Easy guide to improve your posture while working

Easy guide to improve your posture while working

A study from the Bureau of labour statistics in 2015 showed that temporary working or any desk jobs have influenced 31% of people with musculoskeletal disorders and injuries (MSDs). Office work indeed is one of the safest jobs that you can do, but still, it has its health issues that most people tend to ignore. However, to prevent chronic back and neck pain and other health issues, it’s important to practice Home worker Assessments. Generally, the term Homeworker Assessments does not mean tailoring your desk and equipment, but your whole working habits as well.

Therefore, the following points consist of some good posture tips that will help to reduce pain and improve total body health.

  • Maintain a neutral posture generally

Neutral posture defines the natural alignment of position- a posture is completely straight from toe to head. A neutral position can be achieved at work even if you sit at a desk. Therefore, here are some essential tips on how to improve your posture while sitting:

  1. Adjust your computer with your eye level, so your head doesn’t tilt.
  2. Keep your back flat against the chair while pulling your shoulder back.
  3. Keep your feet flat on the ground, and avoid crossing ankles or legs.
  4. Get a lumbar support tool that will help you to keep your upper back straight and prevent slouching.
  • Have a regular note of back and neck pain

The idea is to monitor your ongoing symptoms that could be stiffness, ache, and soreness. Try to keep daily or regular notes as symptoms arise. With time, you will notice your pain is worse on certain days or any time of the day. The gathered info helps you to adjust your posture at work and consciously prevent any soreness.

  • Take breaks during the work

To reduce health risks while sitting for prolonged periods, it would be great to perform posture exercise in a short break. Even researchers claimed that regular movement breaks of 30 min, reduce the risks posed by sitting. Stretching, opening up your chest, or a brisk walk around the room can boost up your energy and circulation.

  • Customize your ergonomic workstation

There are several ways to achieve body wellness at work, and one of them is by customizing your ergonomic workstation. However, consider the following tips to maximize your workstation.

  1. Ensure a full range of movement
  2. Keep usable items should be kept in arm’s reach
  3. Create adequate legroom and footrest
  4. Alleviate hunched position

In conclusion, try to build the perfect comfortable workstation that can handle your neutral position much of the day.
